Stüwe has just dispatched a bespoke version of its WK-310-12 shrink disc, which will be fitted directly on a gear coupling supplied to us by our client in the Netherlands. Once the assembly is returned, it will be installed into the cutter drive line of a dredging vessel. This particular shrink disc is capable of transmitting a maximum torque of 600 kNm and accommodating shafts with a diameter of up to 310 mm and a weight of 440 kg. In addition to being fitted on couplings, these shrink discs are also frequently used with brake discs or flanges. Historically, the dredging and marine sector has been a very important market for Stüwe and ourselves, and we are very happy to continue our long history of supplying customised shrink discs to this market. While that was not necessary for this particular application, Stüwe products can be supplied with approval from classification societies if required. Together with Stüwe, we will display our range of marine products during the upcoming Maritime Industry expo, which will be held in Gorinchem from 7 to 9 May.
