Our self-lubricating composite bearing materials are used as bearing bushes, plain spherical, washers, wear strips/pads and guiding rings. They are manufactured from synthetic fibres and thermosetting polyester resins, which can be enhanced with special additives for characteristics such as chemical resistance, fire retardance or temperature resistance up to 230 degrees Celsius. PTFE yarns can also be incorporated within the synthetic fibres, offering additional reduction in friction and improved wear resistance.

The products are supplied with a range of solid lubricants, such as graphite, PTFE, molybdenum disulphide, ceramic powder, or a combination. They can also be coloured with pigments if required (the standard colour is grey), without changing the physical properties.

Weighing only one-sixth as much as equivalent steel, composite bearing materials are exceptionally well-suited for applications where other forms of lubrication are not desirable or available. They are non-magnetic and dimensionally stable, cause negligible water swell, and allow almost any fluid to be used as a lubricant – water gives excellent results, for instance.

The materials can be supplied in the form of tubes, bars or sheets, leaving final machining up to the client. Intertech can also performs machining work in-house to supply parts in accordance with drawings or specifications provided by clients.
